Cooperton Joins Forces with Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce to Drive Island’s Economic Growth and Development Initiatives for 2024

Cooperton Investments has officially become a member of The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (PRCC). This new affiliation underscores Cooperton’s commitment to contributing to the economic development of Puerto Rico.

“The Chamber’s new leadership for 2023-2024 is poised to focus on economic development for the island. The strategic plan is a cornerstone in strengthening the Chamber’s role as the voice of the private sector,” said Mr. Ramón Pérez Blanco, President of the PRCC.

Mr. William Bonaparte, Chief Operating Officer of Cooperton Investments, expressed his pride in joining the Chamber. “Being part of this dynamic group of business professionals offers us a unique opportunity to contribute to the business community and collaborate with members and government agencies on new business development ideas,” he stated.

Under the leadership of Mr. Ramón Pérez Blanco, the PRCC aims to foster collaboration between the Chamber, private sector associations, government entities, and non-profit institutions. “Through unity, we can be more effective in reaching our economic development goals,” he noted.

Mr. Pérez Blanco highlighted new initiatives, including the activation of the Third Sector Council of the PRCC to strengthen ties with communities, non-profit organizations, and NGOs. He emphasized the Chamber’s role in producing well-researched position papers on various topics, especially in this pre-election year.

“The Chamber is committed to producing analyses and studies that are vital for Puerto Rico’s economic development. Planned studies include new editions of the business and consumer confidence indexes and a demographic analysis of the diaspora to help shape public policy proposals to attract this population back to the Island,” Mr. Pérez Blanco added.

Another key focus will be strengthening the lobbying efforts of the PRCC in Washington, D.C. “Puerto Rico needs a strong representation in the U.S. capital, and we plan to make our voice heard from a free enterprise standpoint,” stated PRCC Executive Director Liza García.

Goals for the upcoming year include increasing networking opportunities for entrepreneurs and professionals, holding member-exclusive events, supporting the Network of Women Entrepreneurs, and boosting membership by 20%. These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance the economic landscape of Puerto Rico.
